Jean Jang

Jean is a Korean-American artist whose dynamic career bridges the worlds of performing arts, education, and music industry.

Raised in Austin, Texas, Jean began her artistic journey training in classical ballet and jazz at Ballet Austin Academy. There, she gained early performance experience in The Nutcracker and the Young Artists Spring Show, setting the foundation for a lifelong pursuit of artistic excellence.

She continued to grow as a choreographer and dancer through programs like the LINES Ballet Summer Intensive, Ballet Austin Summer Intensive, and the Charlotte New Music Festival, where she was selected to choreograph a collaborative piece with a composer. She was also invited to join the Regional Dance America National Choreography Intensive as a Project Tier Choreographer.

Jean graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Performance from Butler University in 2013.

Following her studies, she pursued professional opportunities in California and New York, choreographing and presenting original works across Manhattan while collaborating with various project-based dance companies.

In 2015, Jean relocated to Seoul, South Korea, where she danced with contemporary dance companies such as Black Toe Contemporary Dance Company and Andamiro Art Company. She also served as Dance Specialist and Director at Dulwich College Seoul, where she led interdisciplinary collaborations and directed diverse stage productions, working closely with the Music and Drama departments.

Alongside her dance career, Jean developed a passion for photography, launching a successful freelance career in Korea. Her commitment to dance education continued as she completed advanced studies at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. She was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Dance (LRAD) with Distinction and holds Registered Teacher Status (RTS) and Associate status (ARAD).

Jean is the founder and director of JJ Motion, a professional project-based dance company based in Seoul. Her choreographic talent was recognized by the Korea Ballet Association, where she was selected to direct and choreograph major works and received the Rising Choreographer Award in 2020.

In 2022, Jean accepted a role at Dulwich College Singapore as the leading educator for Junior School Dance, where she served for two years.

In April 2024, she returned to Seoul to explore new creative frontiers and transitioned into the entertainment industry. She joined SM Entertainment in June 2024 and now serves as A&R for their dance music label, ScreaM Records.

Jean continues to blend her diverse artistic background with a forward-thinking approach to dance, performance, and music, constantly seeking new ways to create and inspire.
